Caring for Solid Wood and Veneer Furniture
Simple routines that protect oak, walnut, and painted finishes year round.
Solid wood develops character over time, but sudden humidity swings can still cause seasonal movement. Use coasters under drinks and felt pads under lamps to prevent ring marks and scratches on dining and side tables.
Dust with a soft microfiber cloth along the grain. Avoid silicone sprays that build residue on matte lacquer and oil finishes. For painted case goods, spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, then dry immediately.
Keep pieces away from direct heat vents and sunny windows when possible. If a drawer sticks in winter, wait for spring humidity before sanding; often the wood simply needs time to equalize.
Everwood product pages list recommended care kits for each collection. Ask our Vernon team if you need touch-up markers or hardware replacements for older Everwood pieces.
